Following a great deal of hard work and thorough planning by trial management and our volunteer aerodromes’ staff, the Airspace4All GA Airfield ATS ADS-B Traffic Display Trial went live at its first airfield – City Airport & Heliport (Manchester Barton) – on Friday 1st March 2019. Details of the trial at Barton can be found at https://airspace4all.org/barton-go-live-on-our-ga-airfield-ads-b-traffic-display-trial-1st-march-2019/
Chichester Goodwood Aerodrome in West Sussex, as reported earlier, will also be participating in the trial; however, Gloucestershire Airport has decided to suspend its involvement. Fortunately, when we first made public our intentions to undertake this trial we were approached by many airfields asking if they could participate. One of these was North Weald in Essex and, having already prepared the ground for the conduct of the trial at our other trials airfields, we are now working with North Weald to prove the utility of already developed documentation and equipment released from Gloucester. Being close to Stapleford, within the Stansted TMZ and under the Stansted CTA, North Weald operates under some congested and complex airspace, making it ideally located for trialling the ADS-B Traffic Display.
